Kinango Update: Time to Drill

  • Geological Survey 1
  • Geological Survey 2

Geological Survey completed and results are in.

The results of the geological survey show that there is water at a depth of 160 meters, Alhamdulillah. Now it time to drill.

So far ODP has done 16  water project all of which were shallow wells. In Kinango the water depth is very far (160mts) and a shallow well cannot do, only a borehole will do in this area. The area has no electricity to pump out the water and if we opt to purchase a generator as a source of power there is no fuel station close by and regular transportation of fuel will be an expensive recurring expense. The only solution for power is to install a solar system to power the pump and pump out the water.

This project will come at a significant cost when compared with all other ODP projects but it is in an area where it is most needed. The team on the ground is quoting the project on just cost figure and the estimate cost for this project is coming to AUD 19,000/-. This will include drilling 160mts (discounted by local officials), purchase and installing of pipe casing, pump, solar power system, electrical cable, above ground water tank, transport and other cost.

Alhamdulillah so far through your generous donation we have 15,326.13. We are requesting you to make additional onetime donation to help us reach the target.

Visit to Kinango

ODP is currently working on a feasibility study of implementing its first borehole Kinango area south of Mombasa, Kenya. All our previous water projects have been shallow well which cost much less than a borehole as the depth in a shallow well is much less than that of a borehole. Boreholes are dug in areas where the water table is very low and usually such areas are more in need of water.

ODP team member together with other brothers from the coastal region went on a fact finding mission to see the situation for themselves. This is their video report.

Visit to Al Muntada Kenya offices

One of the team members of ODP is currently in Kenya and has taken some time to visit Al Muntada Kenya Offices in Nairobi. Al Muntada Kenya is one of our contacts on the ground and has assisted us in implementing all the 16 completed shallow wells in western Kenya and the coastal region. Some…

Video report of the 2016 Ramadhan Food Program a collaboration of One Dollar Project Inc and Park Road Youth Group.

The 10th year of this Project and Alhamdulillah and it’s a new record with 550 families benefiting from this project.

An eye opening video into the living standard of our brother and sister who are less fortunate. Lets visit them in their home as we watch our brother of Park Road Youth Group deliver the food ration to their door step. Another very emotional video.

Thank you to all who donated and supported this project. Please share with friends and family who also donated to this project.

May Allah (SWT) accept from us all.
